Kodak Gallery vs Shutterfly, Part Two

Part one is here.

I've received the prints from Shutterfly today, and the differences between them and the Kodak prints is astounding. The matte finish makes a large difference; however, the main contrast between the two services is in the color quality of the prints.

The three images below were scanned as one large image, the levels were adjusted using the white background of the scanner, and then cropped and separated, so they are as close to an accurate comparison as I can make.

For comparison, here's the original digital image:

The difference between the two is, frankly, amazing. What is even more distressing is the fact that the announcements from Kodak came out far worse than the 4×6:

So, not only did the announcements cost quite a bit more from Kodak, but the quality is far less than what one could expect to receive from Shutterfly.

I've updated the chart in part one. I just can't get over the difference between the two services. Of course, Kodak costs quite a bit less, so perhaps the difference is justified in that a 4×6 print from Shutterfly is nigh twice the price of one from Kodak.

It's so weird that you got a bad batch from Kodak. I just got an order in today (I placed it on Sunday). I chose the matter quality for the pics and was totally pleased with the results. Maybe I'll bring them with me on Friday so you guys can see them.
